A Short History of Medicine

"Doctor, I have a tummy ache."

2000 B.C.—"Here, eat this root."
1000 B.C.—"That root is heathen, say this prayer."
1850 A.D.—"That prayer is superstition, drink this potion."
1940 A.D.—"That potion is snake oil, swallow this pill."
1985 A.D.—"That pill is ineffective, take this antibiotic."
2000 A.D.—"That antibiotic is artificial. Here, eat this root!"

why in the hell is garbage like this still being posted on blogs today? this has been around since like the late 90's, it wasn't funny then, and anyone who's been on the internet for more than a week has read it a hundred times already.

My intentions, precisely, for posting such "garbage" was to receive an articulate response such as yours. What's "funny" to me is that since the 90's, the market for herbs and supplements has prospered, whereby (as I am SURE you know), nothing is being regulated. And yet people are relying upon supplements in order to prevent and cure disease: INCLUDING DOCTORS. So then -- this might be around for ages, but sadly, it's true.

Anonymous is full of it. I have ben on the internet since 1995 and I had never seen this.
It made me think and even if I partly agree with Marissa, we have to remind ourselves that most medicine today are made from plant extracts isolated by pharmaceutical company and resold under an expensive label. We need regulation but who's to regulate? The FDA??? Look how corrupted they are..the approved of OMGs made by Monsanto (most of those who were in charge at the time work for Monsanto now...)

My personal blog here at Blogger is still going to remain intact; however, please visit my new website, http://marissabeck.wordpress.com, which will host more nutrition topics (because obviously you just can't get enough!)
